About Us - Where We Work
The Neighborhood Farm Initiative works in partnership with several community gardens in Washington, DC, and with a private landowner in Adelphi, MD. Here's a run-down of where to find us out in the gardens:
Ward 5 - near Fort Totten
The Neighborhood Farm Initiative's main garden site is located near Fort Totten metro station (red, yellow, and green line trains, many bus lines). To get to the garden from the Fort Totten metro station, turn left (north) and walk up the sidewalk past where the buses stop. Across from the parking lot and after some trees, you'll see a paved path going up over a slight hill on your left (going west), take that path across a field and you'll see us at the top of the hill!
If you map 100 Gallatin Street NE WDC 20011, you'll see the field from the satellite view and the path that connects Gallatin street to the metro stop.
Ward 7 - Fort Dupont Community Garden, Section C
The Fort Dupont garden is at the northwest corner of intersection of Fort Davis Drive SE and Fort Dupont Drive SE; it's over 3.5 acres, you can't miss it! Just drive in the garden gate and down to the bottom of the hill and park near the picnic tables - there's a grassy open area there. NFI's section is in garden area C, which is at the bottom of the hill. Ft Dupont Garden is difficult but not impossible to reach by public transportation.
Ward 7 - Lederer Youth Garden
Ward 4- After-School Garden Clubs
