NFI offers volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups at our urban farm site in NE DC. The work is general organic farm maintenance, including digging, weeding, sifting compost, planting and more.
Our workdays not only help us maintain our farm, but also provide community members an informal opportunity to learn about the basics of organic gardening.
We host regular volunteer workdays on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings from March-October. For more information and regular updates, join our mailing list.
We can also host groups of up to 25 people with advance notice, and can tailor your volunteer experience to suit your group's needs.
Email Kristin Georger, Volunteer Coordinator, at kristin@neighborhoodfarminitiative.org if you're coordinating a group.
Get Involved in Other Ways!!
Along with helping making our farm run, our volunteers help out with every aspect of our nonprofit's operation, from fundraising to web design to data entry to blogging. If you're interested in helping out with other tasks, email kristin@neighborhoodfarminitiative.org and let us know!
NFI has a great volunteer base, but we still need to make sure that we have the funds to cover the costs for the tools, equipment, and gardening materials that we need to continue to offer the programs that make NFI such a successful organization.
